Hello, ladies and gentlemen! I've been a little quiet, so I thought I'd do a post letting everyone know what I'm working on at the moment. When I go quiet, it usually means I've gone deep into my writing cave on a project, and that's exactly the case here.
In my last update, I mentioned about a fantasy story I'm working on. Well, I still am, but it's now about to cross the 60k mark with more story to tell, so we're in novel territory now. Woo hoo! But I wanted to take a moment to help make things a little clearer about this story, the working title of which is TO THE OTHER SIDE. It's subject to change with it still in the early stages of this work, but that seems to be what's jumped out at me for the title so far. What I wanted to clarify and what's been a concern for some folks is...yes, this story is still gay erotic romance. Don't worry! I'm not leaving the genre!
I know when some folks hear "fantasy", you're thinking heavy sword and sorcery stuff, sometimes a little dry on romance and sexual content. It's certainly not wrong to think that. But in my novel, the relationship between the heroes, Bryson Summers and Garrett Evergard, is the focal point of the story, so it's still very much like my previous works in that regard.
I don't want to say too much more about it yet, but I just wanted to assure everyone that while this is a fantasy story, you'll still be seeing what you're used to from me in my books, sweet romance and steamy love scenes :-)
Publishing is still far off for this book, but I do hope to have it released this year. I'm a HUGE lover of the fantasy genre. It's what I used to write before Jesse from Conquest turned my attention elsewhere ;-) I never published any of the fantasy stories I wrote before, but then, it wasn't until Jesse that I felt I had a work I really and truly wanted to get published. So to dip back into writing a story with a fantasy theme and combining it with my love for the m/m genre is very exciting for me. And now that I've shared a little bit more about it, I hope when it does release, those who give it a read will enjoy it!
I love fantasy too, so this is very exciting for me. Can't wait to see it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm having a lot of fun writing it :-) Hopefully it'll be a story you'll enjoy!
DeleteI love fantasy so I'm super excited. It's the first genre I started reading with my dad. Of course I've been re-reading your back list so hearing about new works is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteIt's where I got my start with reading, too :-) Not counting the Black Stallion books by Walter Farley. I hope you'll like this fantasy story by me! And that's so wonderful to hear you've been re-reading my backlist. Thank you so much for that! It won't be too much longer before a new title is added to it. Adapting Instincts is due out in March :D
DeleteCan't wait to read it. I am a big fan of fantasy. Thank you for the updates on your writing it is always nice to be reassured that a writer you like is still hard at work and say... has not run off to join the circus.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for looking forward to it! I hope it'll be worth the wait for you :D And you're most welcome for the updates. I know how it is, wondering if an author is writing a book you're waiting for or not, or what in the world they're doing, so I try to make sure I'm giving updates at least somewhat regularly :-)
DeleteOh wow. I haven't thought of the Black Stallion in years. I remember blowing through every "horse" book the library had one summer. I think I was about ten years old. There was a 5 book check out limit but I lived out of town and could only come to town a couple times a month so the librarian let me take 20 books at a time. When I was 12 She turned me loose in the "adult" side of the library and I descovered A. Norton and Z. Henderson and Piper. (I loved those Little Fuzzies!) And a Fantasy/Si-Fi lover was born. Of course Farley had already primed me with the Red Stallion series. Can't wait for your book. I know I will love it too. And you know I am a fan of novel length books. I always hate to see them end. So sequals are always welcome to my library. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful you used to read the Black Stallion books, too! To this day, I still love the Black and I have a model of him. Some things always stay with you :-) And that was a wonderful librarian who bent the rules to encourage your love of reading.
DeleteI enjoy novels, also. That's mostly what I read, so I wonder if that's why I write so many. I'm just used to that pace of storytelling. I hope you'll like this fantasy story of mine! And, I do have a feeling there will be a sequel ;-)
