Overdue Writing Update

Hey, everyone! I'm not sure if this update is really overdue. Since all my updates are overdue, maybe that means technically this is right on time ;-)

I do know it's been awhile since I gave some information on what I've got going on. So, here's what's been happening in my little writing world. I've been hard at work on four manuscripts.

MODEL LOVE - This story will be my first Ellora's Cave release. This is a contemporary gay erotic romance story, about 47k words. The story features former model, Ian Eldridge, trying to overcome his guilt and grief over his twin brother's death, and trying to get his life back on track with the help of the beautiful Temaru Marceau. I've made it through stage 1 of edits on the story with my awesome editor at EC. Yay! There are still a couple more rounds left to go, but so far, everything is going very smooth on it. No release date yet, but that should be coming soon and when it does, I'll be posting it.

REFINED INSTINCTS, Instincts series Book 5 - I think this is one a few folks have been waiting on. It's in the hands of my fantastic editor at MLR Press and we should be starting edits on it soon. As of right now, we're aiming for a November release on it. The book is currently 62k in length. Timeline wise, this story falls after ADAPTING INSTINCTS, and it will be the story of Renart Bellerose and Troy Raines. Once I have more info to share on it, specific release date, cover, blurb, I will be sure to.

VAMPIRE PRINCE - This will be my second Ellora's Cave release. And yes, it's a gay erotic romance/paranormal/vampire story. And no, it's not connected in anyway to Instincts. The vampires in Vampire Prince are a little closer to traditional paranormal beings, where in Instincts the vampires are natural beings. This story is finished and in the hands of my EC editor. At the moment, it's complete at about 71k, but that word count could fluctuate a little bit once edits begin. The story follows Sebastian Beaumont, a young blood slave, and a three hundred-year-old vampire prince, Valentin Wyndham.

KNIGHT OF FIRE, Terra Series Book 2 - And rounding out the list of what I've been working on is Book 2 in the Terra series. I have been working on this book pretty much since I finished book 1! But real life and writing distractions have kept me from finishing it. Right now, my goal is to finish the first draft by mid-October and have it turned in to my MLR Press editor by the first week of November. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I'll be able to pull it off! The story is already over 50k with a lot more to go, and it is the story of Torran the Dragon Speaker and Sir Karrick Brenton.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what I've been up to! Hope all sounds good to you guys!

When will we get Tanner's (Lions Rampant) story? I know, I'm impatient but I'd like to read more about him and the other guys.

    1. Yep, another Terra book :-) Slowly making progress on it and working toward The End.

Tanner's story probably won't be until 2014...hopefully. I've just had so many other writing and personal commitments this year. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed to write a little something with him next year :-) Thank you for wanting to read more about him and the other guys!

    2. I liked reading To The Other Side, it had a great fantasy feeling. The world building was captivating and the story itself was truly enchanting. Can't wait to see what's coming next....

2014!!! Wow, that seems so far away, the wait will drive me crazy, I'm sure of it, but personal commitments go first. ;)
Will Tanner get a full novel or a novella? I'd like him to have a full novel. *hinting unashamedly*
I don't know if I'd already asked, but what about Adam and Delilah? Will they also get a story of their own?

    3. Thank you very much about To The Other Side! I'm absolutely thrilled hearing that about the world building and story itself! I really loved writing that story and I'm loving writing the second one, but it's been slow going on it. Writing fantasy is hard! lol! But the second one has been a lot of fun because it's heavy on dragons.

I know, 2014 does seem so far away. I really had intended to start it toward the end of this year, but other writing commitments have pushed it back. And now I have a new day job where my writing time is much less. But I haven;t forgotten about Tanner! I'm leaning toward writing a novella with Brandon and Shunichi to wrap something up for them, and then it would be Tanner's turn. I hope his story will turn out to be a novel! I won't know until I sit down and start working on it. I never know what my stories' lengths will be until I'm writing the last words. I don't try to shoot for a particular word count, I just let the story tell itself.

I don't think Adam and Delilah will get a story of their own, but I will think about bringing them in for an update in another story, like maybe Brandon and Shun's :-)

    4. You're welcome and congratulations on the new day job!

Dragons, great!! I love them, especially as dragon shifter.

At first I didn't like Tanner, but every time I re-read the books, the more he grows on me. So I'm actually quite excited about his book.

Brandon and Shun, they are so incredible. And cute! I loved reading No More Mirages and wished it was longer. I can't wait to read more about them. When you say "to wrap something up for them", do you by chance mean wedding bells?
It's good to know that Adam and Delilah will be back, even if it's just an update.

    5. Thank you! I'm happy about it :D The EVIL day job I've worked for the past two years truly was evil, people were just horribly rude, so it's nice to get away from that negativity.

I'm happy you're excited for Tanner's story! It's definitely going to be a challenge to write it and I have no idea what to expect, but I'm hoping it'll turn out to be a story folks will enjoy.

Yep, wedding bells is exactly it :-) I'm planning on writing a sweet little story with them to bring their relationship full circle. And maybe hint at someone for Tanner...

    6. I can totally relate to changing your job. I've had a similar atmosphere at my last job and I'm happy where I'm now. Btw, how are you juggling your life? I can't imagine that it's easy to work 2 (day job and writing) jobs and find time for your family as well.

      LOL, Tanner's a real challenge.

YAY, wedding bells for Shun and Brandon! I can't wait to read that story.
Hinting at someone for Tanner...Have you already someone in mind?

      Gabriella

    7. That's good you found a job you're happy with! It's a hard thing to do sometimes. Juggling everything for me is getting a bit more challenging. I really hit writing hard this year to try and push more books out, and I can tell you, I won't be doing that again, lol! I'll be going back to my slower pace of just three releases a year, most likely :-)

Tanner is a huge challenge! I'm going to have to go into his story ready for battle!

I think Brandon and Shun's story will turn out cute, low angst, heavy romance. Hopefully, at least! I do have someone in mind for Tanner. A man who's very confident and has been a bit of a player himself. He's shown up in two of the Conquest stories, very small roles, and he's a fellow actor friend of Brandon's.

    8. That were a lot of books and with the ones still coming out this year, I can't imagine how you're doing it and still have a normal life...

LOL, ready for battle. Sounds like fun...I can't wait for his book. Your comment had me looking through my kindle books, hunting for a name for Tanners possible love interest, but so far I haven't found him. :(
I think I have to do a re-reading and see what I can find...

That's what I love about your stories, they are always cute and so romantic. I'm just sorry, that they're not available in German. I love to recommend them, but many friends of mine prefer to read their books in German.

      Gabriella

    9. I'm not quite sure I do have a normal life, lol! I did lose a bit of that with writing so much this year. That's why I'm cutting back for 2014. I feel like I spent way too much time in front of the computer this year!

Thank you for looking forward to it! Hopefully I'll come out of writing it with a little bit of sanity intact. I can give you a couple hints for who Tanner's man might be. He appeared in Finding a Dream and Black Heart Down, very small roles. He's a stage actor, a friend of Brandon's, and his first name also begins with a T ;-)

Aww, that makes me so happy you love that about my books :D I do try to make them "feel good" reads. I wish they were in German, too! I would love to have my books translated into other languages. Maybe someday that'll be something that MLR Press will consider.

    10. I see the point where a relationship with your computer isn't so much fun...All of us need a break from time to time, even if it's something we love doing.

I used the time and re-read the books. I've just finished Black Heart Down. *sigh* Rob's and Ky's relationship is a real whirlwind of emotions.
I've found Tanner's man. Oh Boy! This is going to be fun and/or a battle of wills. LOL, I see where you fear for your sanity.
Reminds me a bit of AC/DC's TNT...just replace women, daughters and wives with men, sons and husbands...;)

It would be sooo great if MLR Press would consider translating your books into German.

    11. You got it! I love writing, I'm grateful for being able to do it, but I think my computer and I need to spend a little more time apart, lol!

Kyler and Robbie were my most challenging couple to write. There was so much love there between them, but so much damage to overcome. Helping them through it, though, also made them one of my most satisfying couples to write :-)

You found him! And you're so right about TNT! That's what I call the two of them :D His man is very confident and strong-willed, a bit of a player himself, so maybe they can help each other find their way together.

I wish MLR would too *sigh* Hopefully someday.

    12. LOL, your love for writing is quite evident in your books...;) I understand that you need some time apart from your computer, even lovers can't be together 24/7.

Yes, I've found him! And almost killed my kindle and myself in the process....
"Damn, and I really did want to know what it'd be like to fuck a rock star." *coffee snort*
What can I say, I so want their book...this one is going to be explosive...*happy dance*...I can't wait to read what T does when he discovers he's found his very own rock star.

      TNT's story...beginning, middle or end of 2014?!

    13. Thank you! I'm glad that it comes through in my writing how much I love it. And I do love all my guys in my stories, even the ones who give me headaches, lol!

Yeah, he does has that little thing he'd really like to find out about ;-) He was destined to be with a rocker. I really hope their book will live up to your expectations! I'll do my best to make it so. It's probably going to have a lot of heat and some tension, maybe some emotional explosions.

Right now, I'm hoping for mid-2014. I have two projects to finish up this year, then for next year, two...maybe three...that will be ahead of it, depending on what characters talk to me the loudest :-)

  4. LOL, I love all the guys in your books too. ;)

Hm, from all the books you've written, who do you like most? Who gave you the most headaches?

Mid-2014 sounds great with all those projects still in progress. I know it's a little bit selfish, but I hope that TNT aren't only talking loudly...I hope they're screaming...so that their story comes up next.

    1. Yay! I'm happy you love my guys, too :-)

Out of all my books, Jesse and Evan are still my favorite guys. I just absolutely love them and they're super special to me. So far, the ones who gave me the most headaches were Robbie and Kyler. I'm sure Tanner will change that, lol!

I'm going to do my best to hit mid-2014. And I kinda hope they are screaming! It'll make my job easier if they shout out their story, lol!

    2. Jesse and Evan's book was your first book, right? Is that, why they are so special to you? I love them too. LOL, who wouldn't...but from the Conquest series I think I love Brad and Remmy most.

From all your books Robbie and Kyler gave you the most headaches?
What about Daniel and Ryu...? There were times I wanted to kick Daniel and when hug him...

You know what is strange....I just remembered, that when I read about Tanner for the first time, I wanted to strangle him, but he simply grew on me over the time and now I'm literally begging for him to have his own story...

      Have a nice weekend.

    3. Yep, Jesse and Evan were my first. I think it does have something to do with them being special to me. But also, Jesse came through to me so strong, and through all the books I've written, he and Evan still feel close. I just love them! And that makes me happy hearing you love Brad and Remmy :D Those two really deserved their story together.

Daniel definitely gave me some headaches, lol! Ryu was frustrating just trying to get him to make a move, but Daniel was harder in trying to wrestle him to behave with his cocky self. I feel the same way about him as you!

Tanner does have that same effect! I think he's a little worse than Daniel, since Daniel does at least have some survival sense to him, where Tanner is pretty much an anything goes kind of guy. Hopefully his story will come out good when I get to writing it!

And thank you about the weekend! I did have a good one. Hope you did too! Now tonight, I get to see Josh Groban in concert! Very excited for that!

    4. I wish you a lot of fun tonight and that you enjoy the concert! I've never heard of Josh Groban before...but I've found him on iTunes and so far I like some of his songs. I'm currently listening to 'The Moon is a Harsh Mistress'.

Have you ever heard of Alter Bridge? That's my favorite rock band. I love their new album 'Fortress'!

LOL, nice description of Daniel and Tanner. They have the same effect on me though...I alternately want to kick them and hug them...Is it bad to wish that T 'kicks' Tanner and gets him to behave?

      Gabriella

    5. The concert was fantastic! Josh's voice was unbelievably beautiful and so powerful. He was sweet, charming, and hilarious in his stories he was telling between songs and in interacting with the audience. This was my first time seeing him live and I think now I'm an even bigger fan of his! And he sang that song, "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress." It was gorgeous sung live!

I'm not familiar with Alter Bridge, but I'll definitely have to look them up and give them a listen :-)

Yeah, Daniel and Tanner are both problem children, lol! And I don't think that's bad at all! I think T is going to have his hands full. But T also has a wild side, so it should be interesting to see what happens when the two of them mix ;-)

      Delete
    6. I love going to concerts, but there aren't many in my area. So I'm not going often, because I always also have to pay the travel costs and for a B&B.

I really love that song by now. It's great and I can see that it has to be gorgeous sung live.
Alter Bridge are great! I love their music.

Problem children might not be easy, but they sure make life interesting. Like you said, I can't wait to see what happens when two of them mix...could be explosive..

      Happy Halloween!

    7. I can totally understand those difficulties with going to concerts. It seems like where I live, the closest any big acts come is at least two hours away. That's how far I went to see Josh Groban. I'm so happy that you're enjoying that song of his! It's so beautiful. I checked out Alter Bridge on YouTube and they're awesome!

Yeah, those problem children do keep things interesting, lol! I'm hoping T-N-T will turn out to be explosive!

And a very Happy Halloween to you, too!
