New Release: Acting on Love

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm thrilled to announce my new novella, Acting on Love, is now live at MLR Press! I'm so happy to bring this sweet romance - with plenty of erotic intimacy - to everyone. This is a Conquest novella, so you just might see some familiar faces in it, too ;-)

Soon, it'll be rolling out to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, AllRomance eBooks, and more! I hope everyone who decides to spend a little time with Brandon and Shun will enjoy this next adventure they share in their lives together!

Blurb:
Brandon Alexander has risen to the top of theatre in Chicago, but when you reach the top, there’s usually only one way left to go. Funding fell through on the latest play he was to star in and now he finds himself an unemployed actor. Coming fresh off a bad audition, he wonders if his time in the spotlight is over. But what worries him more, is not making the man he loves proud of him.

Shunichi Miyamoto runs a highly successful dojo. He had always let work be the focus of his life, until over a year ago, the man of his dreams walked into the dojo to rekindle his passion for karate, and it led to further passions between him and Brandon. He knows Brandon is worried about his career, but he loves him, he’s proud of him, and he’ll do anything for Brandon’s happiness.

Both Brandon and Shunichi want to spend their lives together, but when a new opportunity comes to Brandon, he must decide whether to follow his career dreams or to act on his love for Shunichi.

Sneak Peek: Acting on Love

Hey there, everyone! The release date for Acting on Love, 3/27/2015, is drawing ever closer. With Brandon and Shunichi about to take the spotlight soon, I thought I'd share a sneak peek at their story.

The book itself is a novella length, about 34,000 words. I think of it as a "feel good" read and I hope everyone who reads it, will enjoy it!

To re-introduce everyone to Brandon and Shun, and let you get a feel for the story, here's a portion of Chapter One! Happy reading!

Chapter One Excerpt:
Brandon held the Suzuki GSXR-1000 steady with one hand, his other rested on his hip. Now that he was nearly home, cruising slow and easy, he could relax from the chaos of maneuvering the motorcycle through the heart of Chicago. Entering his home neighborhood always brought an instant calm over him and he needed as much calmness as he could get right now.

The audition…it hadn’t gone well, to put it mildly. To be perfectly honest, he hadn’t bombed so bad in a performance since he was playing Captain Hook in his junior high’s production of Peter Pan when, as he tried to add some flourish to ol’ Hook, he fell off the pirate ship prop onstage. In his defense, the ship had been built by pre-teens and early teens, and it was about as unsteady to walk on as if it really did roll and rock on the waves of the high seas. At least then he’d still remembered all his lines, even when he fell off the damn ship. Not like today.

He forgot his fucking lines!

Brandon tossed his head back, throwing the blue sky a quick glance as though he could find the answer up there to why things had gone so wrong. Really, he knew the answer and didn’t have to look anywhere else for it other than within himself. He hadn’t prepared enough. Why hadn’t he prepared? That was a tougher question to answer and there was no single answer to it. There were many combined and tangled reasons that he was still trying to sort out and understand.

He wouldn’t look at it any other way than he wasn’t excited about the role, or the play. It was a dramatic piece, a brand new play by a young playwright looking to make his break. All in all, the script was pretty good; the story of a husband and wife whose marriage was falling apart when the husband couldn’t hold back his true self and deny being gay any longer, and yet, there was still love between him and his wife. Emotionally, it was very powerful. On a personal level, the role should’ve been a perfect fit, as Brandon had struggled with his own sexuality.

Maybe that was part of the problem, it hit too close to home. He loved to lose himself in a character, become someone he could never be in real life. Or maybe he hadn’t done his best in the audition because of it being a dramatic piece rather than a musical. He could do drama, no problem, but it wasn’t his preference in roles and it’d been a long time since he’d done it. Then again, maybe because it was a smaller production, more low budget than he was used to, it felt like he was taking a step back in his career, rather than forward…

Brandon placed his other hand on the handlebars and clenched on with both hands. Now that was hitting too close to home. He didn’t like to think the last factor had any bearing on his performance during the audition, but truthfully, it did. He’d gotten used to big productions, having the spotlight shining on him and following him wherever he went. When he’d walked into the little theatre that morning, the building plain and tucked away from its bigger and grander fellows, he felt as though his spotlight had dimmed.

Brandon let out a rough snort. He’d always teased Jesse about being the prima donna between the two of them. Things weren’t looking too good for Jesse keeping that title.

But having reached a high level of success, it was hard to take a step…down. He’d walked the hard road in his career, taking any role he could get just to be involved in theatre, trying to build recognition for himself, his name, his talent. From free community theatre gigs to low budget productions, he’d paid his dues and fought for every moment of success he’d gained.

He had starred in some of the largest, most successful plays in Chicago. He’d worked steadily, supported himself as an actor, earned respect in the theatre community, and there was no shortage of roles offered to him. Until recently. Lately, the quality of the offers had gone down and those high profile leading male roles were harder to come by. The thing was, he didn’t know if it was a low in the business, or if it was him.

In theatre, there was always a hot actor or actress on the rise. Someone new and dynamic to fill the seats. What if that’s all he’d been and now his popularity was on the decline? What if his career had already hit its peak and he’d gone as high as he could with it?

Maybe that’s why the funding fell out from under Jersey Boys; the investors might’ve thought he wasn’t relevant enough to fill the house anymore.

Brandon tried to shake off the last thought. No one had said such a thing to him when Jersey Boys was canceled, never even hinted at it. Those things happen. A lot of productions depended on investors to help them get it off the ground and sometimes, for whatever reason, the investors get spooked and pull out. It was no one’s fault.

So why did he keep blaming himself?

Brandon huffed out a frustrated sigh. He guided the blue and white motorcycle left around a turn. The sense of calm strengthened and took over his frustrations and worries as he saw the Miyamoto Dojo—home. The sweeping roof of black tiles and the building of timber siding mimicked classic architecture of Japan. A broad picture window in the front gave a shadowy view inside, but he didn’t see any figures moving on the other side of the glass. Several cars were in the stone and gravel parking lot, and he knew at this time, assistant master, Hiroshi Yoshida, would be putting on a kendo lesson, and Shunichi was between lessons.

Brandon swung the bike into the driveway, the need to see Shun making him crank the throttle and cruise faster than usual past the dojo and the bamboo-lined privacy fence. Beyond the fence was his and Shun’s little sanctuary, a Japanese-style garden. It was where they’d shared their first kiss, where he realized he’d found the man he’d always been looking for. They’d spent many evenings in the garden, talking, enjoying each other’s company…kissing…touching…

He veered the bike toward the garage. The home cloned the dojo in style and architecture, blending aspects of the seventeenth century with modern day amenities, the Japanese and American influences blending.

Bringing the bike to a halt, Brandon knocked the kickstand down. He switched the motorcycle off and swung his leg over the back as he dismounted. He pulled off his helmet, tucking it under his arm, and bounded up the steps to the wraparound veranda. A light breeze sent the wind chimes singing in melodic random notes and carried the scent of flowers to him. He opened the front door, locked it behind him, and took off his shoes, placing them on a wooden rack by the door then set his helmet on the rack. Shaking his fingers through his hair, he stepped up into the family room. It always felt good to come home, but today it felt especially so. The house had been Shunichi’s before they met and it was the home Shun had grown up in. When Shun had taken over the dojo from his father, his parents had also signed over the house to him. Not long after he and Shun started dating, they’d moved in together. Never had he fallen so fast, so hard, or so deeply, for someone.

And nothing had changed. That June, two weeks ago, they’d celebrated their one year anniversary together. It amazed him. He felt as if he’d known Shunichi for longer, and he’d felt that way the moment he met him. A deep connection and comfort level had blossomed between them and it’d only grown stronger with time. On their anniversary night, when they’d lain in bed drawing out their lovemaking as long as their bodies could take it, he knew he’d never been happier in his life.

He wanted it to last. Deep down, he knew it was his main reason for being upset over the audition. It was one thing to disappoint himself. It was another to disappoint Shunichi. To have to tell him…he’d failed. Shunichi wouldn’t say he was disappointed in him, but he wanted to be a man Shunichi would be proud to be with.

Brandon walked through the family room and picked up faint music, the rock band Black Heart Down, and it guided him toward the kitchen. He turned left to go through the broad, open doorway leading into the kitchen and stopped short. His worries, his frustration, his disappointment all faded away at the sight before him.

Shunichi was bent over the sink scrubbing at a pan. The night before, after having put in a long day, they’d both only had enough energy for one of two things: they could either clean up the kitchen from cooking dinner, or they could have sex. It was an easy decision to make. Before he left that morning, he’d told Shunichi he would clean the kitchen when he got home, knowing Shun wouldn’t listen. So seeing Shunichi cleaning wasn’t what made him stop and stare. It was that Shun was wearing nothing but a white jockstrap as he did it.

Brandon watched the muscles in Shunichi’s back work and shift. From years of practicing martial arts, Shunichi’s body was chiseled perfection, lean and hard with toned muscle. Brandon let his gaze roam down the V of Shunichi’s upper body to the rounded and muscled ass cheeks.

He managed to glance away from Shunichi and spotted the white karate uniform neatly folded on one of the kitchen chairs, Shun’s black belt rolled and placed on top. Brandon put the pieces together. Shunichi had probably tried to hold off on cleaning for as long as his obsessively neat self could take it and when he’d finally caved, stripped off the uniform rather than risk tainting it with a stain.
A smile slipped onto Brandon’s lips. From Shun’s fine body to his brilliant mind, his athletic skill to his beautiful face, his gentle heart to his quirks, Brandon absolutely loved this man.

And he should probably let him know he was home early, especially since he was so damn hard now. He just needed one thing first.

Brandon backed out of the doorway and crossed the family room again, aiming for the hallway to the left. He darted down it and swung into the bedroom, snatching the bottle of lube off the nightstand beside their bed. He headed back to the kitchen with quick steps, slowing when he walked in. He tucked his hands behind his back.

Brandon took a breath and lifted his voice over the hard driving rock beats of the music, “I’m so pissed at you right now.”

Shunichi jumped and spun around, soap suds flying off of the sponge in his hand. His dark eyes were wide with surprise, but his startled expression quickly faded with a warm smile. “I know, I know. You said you’d clean everything, but it was driving me crazy.”

“Yeah, I’m sure, but that’s not why I’m pissed.”

“No? Then why?”

A flirtatious edge entered Shunichi’s smile, telling him Shun already knew the answer but was more than willing to play along.

Keeping one hand behind his back, Brandon motioned at Shunichi’s body…his lower body in particular. “Because you never clean like this when I’m home!”

“Probably because I know I wouldn’t get anything done if I did.”

Brandon stepped into the kitchen, moving toward him. “I know one thing you’d do and get done damn good.”

Shunichi tossed the sponge back in the sink and wiped his hands on a dish towel. He lifted his arms, looping them around Brandon’s neck and drawing him close. “And you know how much I love doing that.”

A pleased moan rumbled in Brandon’s throat as he touched their lips together. Having Shunichi’s soft lips on his own, Shun’s hard body pressed against him, the disappointment of the day felt like a distant memory. Shunichi opened his mouth, and Brandon slipped his tongue inside and glided it along Shun’s. He wrapped his arms around him, setting the lube on the counter behind Shunichi.
Shunichi’s skin was smooth and warm under Brandon’s hands. He rubbed down Shunichi’s back to the firm ass cheeks, curling the fingers of one hand between them and caressing down toward Shun’s hole.

Shunichi smiled through the kiss. “I have a class in…” he glanced toward the stove and digital clock, “an hour. Fifty three minutes, to be exact.”

Brandon lowered his head, placing a tender kiss, then a light nip on Shunichi’s neck. “I can make it quick. Give me fifteen minutes.”

Throaty chuckles left Shunichi. He stepped back, sliding out of Brandon’s gentle hold on him. “That’s what you always say, then I’m running across the garden barely making it to my students on time.”

Brandon met Shunichi’s gaze and the playful shine in Shun’s eyes betrayed he was teasing him. Shunichi’s hard cock pushing out the cloth pouch of the jock revealed he was more than in the mood. Brandon moved a step forward for the one Shunichi had retreated. “If you let me play with you, then I won’t have to play dirty to get you.”

Shunichi’s smirk broadened. He placed both hands behind him, bracing himself back on the counter’s edge. “I kind of like the sound of that. How’re you going to play dirty?”

Brandon moved closer to him again. “I won’t tell Jesse you were listening to Black Heart Down instead of Conquest.”

Shunichi broke into laughter. He gave Brandon a shove back. “That’s not playing dirty. That’s all out blackmail!”

Brandon hooked his fingers over the top elastic strap of the jock, giving it a tug away from Shun’s body. “When you’re running around in nothing but this, you don’t give me any other choice.”
Shunichi took hold of Brandon’s belt and gave him a sharp jerk forward. “Guess I should clean like this more often.” He paused. “Hey, you got me so distracted, but how’d your audition go?”

Brandon froze. He locked his gaze with Shunichi’s, but only for an instant before he looked away. He shook his head. “Not good. I blew it.”

“What?”

Brandon heard the shock and disbelief in Shunichi’s voice. He didn’t want to look at him, to see the same in Shunichi’s dark eyes, but he forced himself to look at him and both of those emotions were there on Shunichi’s beautiful features. “I really don’t want to talk about it right now.”

Shunichi gazed back at him, silent. The worry in his countenance gave away to understanding. He took Brandon’s hand and flicked his head toward the hallway. “Come on. Your fifteen minutes are burning away.”

Relief and gratitude rushed through Brandon. Shun always understood him and what he was feeling, sometimes before he knew himself. Brandon called up a smile and reached behind Shunichi to the bottle of lube. He held it up for Shunichi to see before setting it on the counter again. “Good thing we don’t have to waste time walking to the bedroom. And what do you mean my fifteen minutes are burning away? My time doesn’t start until we’re naked.”

Shunichi glanced at the bottle. “Sneaky. So that’s how it works, huh?”

“You got it.” Brandon spun Shunichi to face the counter and wrapped one arm around his waist. He pulled Shunichi tight against him, pressing his hard cock to Shun’s ass. He drifted his hand down the front of the jock, caressing the hard line of Shun’s cock through the fabric. “And since I can fuck you while you’re wearing this, you’ll never be fully naked, so it could take a while.”

Release Date: Acting on Love

Hey, everyone! I know I've been quiet lately, but it's because I've been deep in my writing cave. Now, I've got some great news, so I'm peeking out of my cave to share. I'm thrilled to announce that there is now a release date set for Acting On Love, a new novella to the Conquest series. As of this moment, it's scheduled to release at MLR Press on March 27th. Woo hoo!

The story is about 34,000 words, running around 80 pages. It's a very sweet story focused around Brandon Alexander and Shunichi Miyamoto. But I guess rather than telling you all that, I can just share the blurb so you can get a feel for the story :-)

So without further ado and with much happiness, I present the blurb and cover for Acting on Love!

New Year Writing Plans

Happy 2015, everyone! The new year has been underway for nearly a week now and has already been a busy one. With every new year, I think about the books I hope to write. I've been pondering on this post for a while, wondering where 2015 will take me with my writing and this year, things are starting off a bit differently.

Toward the end of 2013, I had a very set schedule for 2014 in regards to writing because of having contracts with Ellora's Cave that needed to be fulfilled. Those books were set to be written, each had a deadline and those deadlines were pretty tight. I had to keep my head down and write, write, write throughout the end of that year and the first half of 2014 to meet those deadlines and fulfill my obligations. Of course, right after I turned in the last book to meet those obligations, things started to get sticky with Ellora's Cave. Admittedly, it did throw some of my writing plans (and motivation) a bit out of whack.

But as I've learned in my years of working with horses, when you're thrown, you get back up, shake it off, grab the reins, and get on again. And so toward the end of 2014, I began work on a new novella for MLR Press, Acting on Love, a story featuring Brandon Alexander and Shunichi Miyamoto from the Conquest series. As Jesse will tell anyone, those two need some resolution in their relationship ;-) I handed in that story at the end of November and as it looks now, it will be my first release in 2015. I don't have a release date yet, but that story coming out is one absolute book related thing that'll happen for me in this shiny new year.

Now, for the rest of the year. I don't have anything already contracted. I don't have any stories due in by a certain time. Really, I'm free to go in any direction I want with what I work on and the path I decided to take after handing in Acting on Love was to go back to the Instincts series. I'm currently working on a story putting Daniel Valente and Ryunosuke Kimura back in the lead. Ryu's also had some unfinished business hanging out there for a while and it's time to work on that now too.

Once that story is finished, my next plan is to go back to Terra for Book 3, which is Lark and Zane's story. So you see, it's looking like 2015 will be the year of me returning to my series, whereas 2014 had me releasing a lot of stand alone titles. And I'll admit, I'm thrilled to be getting back to my familiar friends with all my series and working with them again :-D

There is one other story that I have, which is a stand alone title. I'm happy to say that one of the books that had been contracted by Ellora's Cave has been given back to me. This story had not yet been published and the working title was Heart's Gamble. As some of you may recall, I had requested rights back on the four books that I had with Ellora's Cave, three titles that are published, one that had yet to be published. While Ellora's Cave is still considering returning my rights back to me on the published works, they did go ahead and give me back the rights on this not yet published manuscript. They have also issued two more payments to me, and at this moment, have paid me up through August 2014. So there has been positive developments there. There's a chance I might work to get Heart's Gamble out this year, but really, I need to let the story sit for a while, then go into with a fresh mind and do some rewriting. Still, I wanted to give an overall update on things with EC and me.

And there we go! What I'm thinking at the moment of working on 2015. My deepest gratitude to everyone for all your support through not only this past year, but for all years that you've been sticking with me on this storytelling journey. I'm sending out good wishes to everyone for a new year filled with happiness and many good books to read!

Happy Anniversary, Conquest!

Five years ago, on October 21, 2009, my birthday, my life changed in an amazing way. On that day, I became a published author. I'd had a few short stories out prior, but this was different, bigger, even more special. It was the release day of my very first novel, Conquest.

I had started writing Conquest a few years prior in 2005, but it took time to build courage and polish the story before I really felt confident presenting it to publishers. It's been a wild ride these past five years, many highs, a few lows, but through all this time, all the stories I've written since, Conquest continues to have a special place in my heart and I know it always will.

I've said before that I credit the main character of Conquest, Jesse Alexander, with making me the author I am, and I still do. When I had returned to college to finish my Bachelor's degree in English/Creative Writing, despite having taken some years off from school, I still didn't have a strong focus to become an author. I was dabbling in fantasy, thought that was the direction I was going in, then it all changed. Jesse came to me as a force stronger than anyone or anything I'd ever written about. And with him he brought Evan, Brandon, all those he knew and cared for. He also brought focus and direction, and as I worked on Conquest, I knew then where my heart was for storytelling.

From Conquest came the other books in the series. Then I began other works, the Instincts, the Terra series, some stand alone stories here and there. But it all began with Conquest and it's been the most amazing journey.

Along this journey, I've met some of the most incredible people. Authors and readers who inspire me, and whose kindness and support continue to touch my heart. I'm grateful to everyone who's joined me on this journey. Some of you have been with me since it began, some have joined recently. There really aren't adequate words to fully express how much it means to have you all be part of this journey with me. I'm so very thankful.

So here, on the five year anniversary of Conquest being published, I'm sending out love and gratitude to everyone who has let me share my stories with you. I'm giving my thanks to Jesse who began it all, and every character whose told me their story since. Here's to the journey continuing on.

FEELING THE RHYTHM Sneak Peek Excerpt

Hey, everyone! Since we're coming down the homestretch for the release of my next novel, FEELING THE RHYTHM, I thought it was time to share a little peek at it. I picked this particular scene from Chapter 2 because I thought it would be a good reintroduction to Brad, Remmy, and the guys.

As of right now, things are still on for it to release on November 23rd at MLR Press in all ebook formats. If anything changes with that date, I'll be sure to post an update here.

Hope everyone who decides to pick up the book, enjoys it!

Excerpt:
Remmy saw the stagehands gathering, ready to run out as Conquest exited to get things set for the encore. Jesse wished the crowd good night, but wasn’t halfway across the stage before the “En-core! En-core!” chant began. He jogged down the stairs and went into Evan’s arms, who hugged him, heedless of how sweaty Jesse was from the long performance. No matter how many times Remmy saw them interacting, his heart melted at the beauty of their relationship and ached to have something close to it in his own life.

That was another reason he needed to leave the roadie scene. Love didn’t seem to want to find him here. It was time for him to move on and look for it somewhere else.

Jesse and Evan walked by him, their arms around each other, both acknowledging him with smiles. Kenny followed behind them, his head tipped back with his lips locked around a bottle of water, but he still lifted his hand in a wave. Julian and Morgan neared, hand in hand.

Morgan glanced toward him. “Hey, Rem.”

“Hey.” Remmy looked at Julian. “Great show, as usual, Jules.”

Julian nodded his appreciation. “Thank you. Just a few more songs to go. I think we may survive this tour yet.”

Remmy chuckled, but it was weak. There was only one more band member left to walk by him, and just knowing Brad was approaching sent his heart racing. He glanced to the side, and there he was, coming closer, walking while wiping sweat from the back of his neck with a white towel.

Brad paused to pull the sweat soaked tank top over his head, a crew member rushing up to take it from him.

Remmy gripped the equipment crate with one hand to steady himself. He’d seen Brad without a shirt on countless times, but each time it had the same effect; instant hard-on. The body on Brad…he wanted to touch him so badly. He could almost feel the solid, thick pecs under his palms, the skin warm, soft, and smooth. The deep grooves of Brad’s abs flexed with his quick breaths, as he was slightly winded from the energy he’d put out playing. And he couldn’t help it that as he looked at the sweat shining on Brad’s skin, small droplets dotting it, all he wanted was to taste the salt of him on his tongue. How could anyone look at that man and not want to lick him?

Brad’s eyes flicked up, his gaze meeting Remmy’s. As Brad smiled and walked toward him, time passed for Remmy in his rapid heartbeats rather than seconds.

Brad clapped Remmy on the shoulder. “I forgot to tell you before the show, good job setting up my skins.”

Brad’s voice —deep, colored with a Brooklyn accent —made it so Remmy couldn’t find his own for a moment. “You’ve said that every night for the whole tour. It’s okay if you let it slip by once.”

Brad shook his head. “No, it’s not. Not for how hard you work to do things right by me, and especially now that we’re done. I gotta let you know I appreciate all you’ve done.”

Remmy stared at him. Brad’s words, his smile, the kindness in his eyes, all struck him speechless. Realizing he was staring, he quickly lowered his gaze, trying to catch something close to composure. He needed to say something. Anything! Just spit something out so he didn’t look like a total fool.

Remmy slowly lifted his gaze to Brad’s again, calling a soft smile to his lips. “Thanks, man. That means a lot.”

Brad held Remmy’s gaze for a moment longer, then cleared his throat and looked beyond Remmy. “I guess I should catch up with the guys.”

Remmy nodded, but as Brad moved by him, his mind screamed about something he’d forgotten. He spun around to Brad. “Hey, hold up a second!”

Brad stopped and turned back. “What’s up?”

Remmy picked up the package he’d left on the crate. He extended it to Brad. “I got something for you. To celebrate the end of a kickass tour.”

Brad slowly took the package, wrapped in blue paper, from Remmy’s hands, staring down at it. “You didn’t have to do this.”

Remmy shrugged. “It’s nothing big. I just thought of you when I saw it, so I had to get it.” He nodded at the package. “Open it.”

Brad tore the wrapping away, and started laughing at what it revealed; a black T-shirt with an image of The Muppets character, Animal, behind a set of drums, sticks raised as if he was wildly pounding, and the words “Drum Hero” stenciled beneath. He lifted the shirt free of the paper. “This is awesome.”

“You really like it?”

“Hell yeah. Animal was always my favorite. And his band was damn good!” Brad paused, glancing upward in a thoughtful expression, muttering softly, “What was their name?”

“Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.”

Brad snapped his fingers and laughed. “That’s right!” He looked back down to the shirt, a soft smile on his lips. “Thanks for this.”

“It’s nothing. I’m glad you like it.”

Brad set the paper aside and shook out the shirt, slipping his hands into the bottom of it. “I’ll wear it for the encore.”

Remmy’s mouth dropped open, a stuttering gasp of surprise leaving him. He watched as Brad pulled the shirt on, his abdomen and side muscles stretching with his arms over his head. As Brad tugged the shirt down and into place, Remmy saw what a perfect fit it was, tight enough to show Brad’s muscled body, his strongly formed biceps filling out the sleeves.

Brad held his arms out to the sides. “How’s it look?”

Remmy answered in a whisper. “Hotter than hell.”

Remmy’s eyes slowly widened as he realized what he’d just said. He could feel heat flooding up his neck to his face. His mouth opened, but no sound came out, as though his brain feared he’d say another embarrassing thing and wouldn’t let him talk.

Brad dropped his arms to his sides, his smile shifted to a smirk. “You think so?”

Between his brain keeping a tight hold on his mouth and his heart threatening to beat through his chest, Remmy couldn’t answer. He felt amazed he at least managed a nod.

Brad took a half step closer to him. “I really appreciate this, and all you’ve done for me.”

Before Remmy’s mind could form another thought, Brad’s body was pressed against him, strong arms wrapped around him. Shock froze him for a brief instant, but it was very brief, as his arms went around Brad in return. His hands placed on Brad’s back, and just as he’d imagined for so many long days and nights, he could feel the firm muscles. He breathed deep through his nose, pulling in the salty scent of Brad’s skin.

Brad’s voice came in a lower timbre. “I feel bad that I don’t have anything for you.”

Remmy shook his head slightly. “Don’t. That wasn’t why I got you something.”

Brad slowly released him, taking a short step back. “Yeah, but still, you’ve busted ass for us, and me. How about after the show, we head out somewhere and I buy you a beer?”

“Seriously?”

Wearing a bright smile, Brad clapped him on the shoulder. “Of course, man. Catch up to me after we wrap up these encores.”

Remmy nodded, his smile matching Brad’s. “All right, I will.” He caught sight of Jesse walking toward them, Evan at his side, Kenny, Julian, and Morgan behind him. He looked back to Brad. “Looks like it’s time for you to go on. I’m sorry, I took all your break time.”

“Don’t worry about it. It was worth it.”

Book News and a Great Review

Hey, ladies and gents! Yes, I'm still around! I know, I know. I haven't posted here in forever, and I'm so sorry for that. Sometimes I wonder where the time goes. I do know 40 hours of it goes to the EDJ every week. You know, if it wasn't for that, I could get so much done! But there's no way I'm going to taint this blog with EDJ talk. This is meant to be a happy place! And so, onto happy things!

First, an update on Conquest Book 7, FEELING THE RHYTHM. For those who have been following my progress with the book, you know my editor and I were shooting to have it release by no later than December of this year. Well, we're going to make that. In fact, we're going to beat that. I'm pleased to announce that as of right now, FEELING THE RHYTHM is slated to release on November 23rd at MLR Press! My editor and I have been hard at work on it to hit this date. Now, as always, the release date is subject to change, but it's looking good for the 23rd. I'm going to pull a little sneak peak excerpt from it to share with everyone soon.

So with the Conquest boys getting ready to hit the scene again, that brings me back around to the vampires in the Instincts series. Along with working with the rockers, I've also been writing like a crazy person to get  the next Instincts book in to my editor by a November 15th deadline. The good news is, I did it! And it has a title; ADAPTING INSTINCTS. It's another novel length book, though shorter than the others in the series. As it stands now, it's sitting at 67K words, but I could always gain some or lose some during editing. That book is slated for a March release, so it'll be my next release after FEELING THE RHYTHM.

With those two books finished, I'm currently between writing projects, and I plan to keep it that way for a little while. I'm going to take a break to recharge and refresh, and I'm not sure what my next project will be. Or even how long my break will be. It might be a couple weeks, a month, or until the end of the year. It'll last until the urge to write gets too strong to hold back. So you might not hear any new writing news from me for a while, but that doesn't mean I'll be a complete stranger. Who knows? Maybe I'll even have the time to get the Weekly Inspiration posts going again!

Last, but certainly not least, I'm very excited to share a great review for NATURAL INSTINCTS, Book 1 in the Instincts series. This review came in with perfect timing since I just finished writing the 4th book! It was reviewed at one of the hottest review sites around for paranormal themed stories, Bitten by Books, and I'm thrilled to say it received a 5 out of 5 rating! Hooray! My thanks to the reviewer, Booktaster, for taking the time to read it and write up the wonderful review, and to Bitten by Books for posting it on their site. If you'd like to check out the review, please click HERE.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is that. An update on all I've been up to. I hope it sounds like good news!

Giveaway News and New Cover Art: FEELING THE RHYTHM

Hey, Brad! Can I get a drum roll, please?

Ladies and gentleman, it's with great happiness that I reveal the cover of my upcoming novel, FEELING THE RHYTHM! This is another beautiful cover crafted and designed by the wonderfully talented, Lex Valentine of Winterheart Design. I think she did a fantastic job, and she was even able to capture the spirit of some of the earlier covers, NO FEAR and KEYS TO LOVE, with the lights and stage faded in the background.

As some of you may know, FEELING THE RHYTHM, will technically be Book 7 in the Conquest series. If you're new to the Conquest series, the order goes:

Conquest - Book 1 - novel
No Fear - Book 2 - novel
Keys to Love - Book 3 - novel
Finding a Dream - Book 4 - novella (all royalties from this story continue to be donated to The Trevor Project)
Black Heart Down - Book 5
Beautiful Harmony - Book 5.5 - short story
Heartstrings - Book 6 - novel

As of right now, my editor and I are still hoping to have FEELING THE RHYTHM ready for a December release. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Also, I do just want to take a brief moment to let y'all know that this week, I'm going to be holding a giveaway for not only my birthday, but also CONQUEST's three year anniversary. Three years! It's hard to believe it's been out that long. I'll be offering winner's choice of one of my books in print, and if the winner would like, I'll sign it for them :-) I'll be getting the giveaway post up on the 19th and running it through the 21st.

And now for the cover! I hope everyone likes it, and I hope when FEELING THE RHYTHM releases, that you'll all enjoy spending some time with Brad, Remmy, and the Conquest guys!

Blurb: FEELING THE RHYTHM

Hey guys and girls! A few days ago, I posted an update on all I've been up to. As many of you know, I finished the 7th book in the Conquest series, FEELING THE RHYTHM. And yep, this is the story of Conquest's drummer, Brad Delfini. I've turned everything over the MLR Press, the manuscript is now in my editor's hands, the cover art request is in, and I submitted the blurb.

Usually, I reveal the cover art and blurb for an upcoming release at the same time. But with this one, I've been debating on sharing the blurb early, since I know a few folks have been waiting on this book. After chatting on Facebook with a friend, I decided to go ahead and share it! Now, the blurb will tell you who Brad's love interest is. Even though I think many have an idea of who that person is, if you don't want to know until the book comes out, I wanted to give fair warning.

For a release date, my editor and I will try our best to have the book out this year, and we're looking toward a December release at the moment. Once I have cover art, I'll share that, too :-)

And so, here it is; the blurb for FEELING THE RHYTHM!

Writing Update: Loving Instincts and Feeling the Rhythm

Hello, everyone! I just wanted to check in and give you all a quick update on the latest in my writing adventures.

We'll start first with my upcoming release, the third vampire novel in the Instincts series, LOVING INSTINCTS. I'm still in edits on this one, but I'm happy to say the edits are moving along nicely and things are looking good for an August release. Don't have a specific day yet, but when I do, I'll announce it. And once I get through one more round of edits, I'll post a little sneak peek excerpt of it ;-) The novel is standing at just a little over 100k words, and with the major additions and deletions finished on it (at least I hope so!), it looks like that's going to be the final word count, so it's a long one!

Next in writing news, I've been working away on Conquest's Brad Delfini's story. Really, I have! I know this one has been a long time coming, but Brad had to be ready to tell his story on his time. Now, his story has broken the 50k mark with more to go. Along with that, I think I've settled on a title: FEELING THE RHYTHM. I'm still hoping to have it finished by the end of summer and am keeping my fingers crossed for a winter release and for it to be my last novel release of 2012.

And that's it! That's what I've been up to. Hope it all sounds like good news to everyone, and I hope when these books do go live, that all who give them a read will enjoy them.
