Hello, ladies and gentlemen!
Wow! It's been a while since I posted some writing news. I promise you, that's not because I haven't had anything going on in my little writing world. I've been writing, writing, writing away. Now I'm thrilled to announce that one of those books I've been working on is in edits and will soon be making its way in the world! And that book is....Knight of Fire, Book 2 in the Terra series!
This book has been a long time coming. I worked on it for seven months before finally turning it over to my fantastically talented editor at MLR Press. With how long it's taken me to write this story, I'm super excited to share some more information about it.
Knight of Fire is the second book in my Terra series, the first being To The Other Side. As of right now, my plans for the Terra series is to make it four books and I've already started working on Book 3. I thought with how long Book 2 took me to write, I better get on the next one right away!
This story will bring back characters familiar to those who read To The Other Side and for those who haven't read the first one, I do recommend reading it first. You probably could get by without giving To The Other Side a read, but as is typical to me with my series, all the stories will follow a timeline and build off each other.
At this moment, Knight of Fire has a tentative release date of...April 25th! That's subject to change if editing takes a bit longer, but that's what we're shooting for.
And now, the cover! When I saw this cover, I almost screamed aloud, I was so thrilled with it. It fit so perfectly with what I was hoping for, all the way down to the royal blue color on Sir Karrick's regalia, his horse, Storm, and the archer on the back cover. I'm head over heels excited about it! And the artist...you may remember how I mentioned my editor at MLR Press being "fantastically talented." Along with the amazing work she does on making my books pretty on the inside, she did the same for this story on the outside. Yep, all the credit for this cover goes to the amazing Kris Jacen. My gratitude and appreciation go out to her for all her hard work.
Without further ado, I would like to present, Knight of Fire! I welcome everyone to return to Terra for more adventures with Torran, Karrick, and all their companions!
Blurb:
Once in the kingdom of Ocassus, humans and dragons shared the lands as allies. That time has passed into legend. But there's one who wants to see it return.
As a Dragon Speaker, Torran is gifted with the rare ability to understand dragons. He knows dragons aren't the vicious, mindless creatures many believe them to be and uses his gift to save them. It's a lonely task. He's never found a partner who understands him. He doesn't believe he ever will.
Sir Karrick Brenton is a Knight of the Crown and a man with secrets...one in particular that draws him to Torran. They come from different positions in life, but never has he met anyone he feels more kindred to than Torran.
When Torran is requested to come to the capital city of Dragon's Landing, both he and Karrick realize their passion for each other. As he seeks to help the king, soon dangers to the crown shift to him, Karrick, and their friends.

Terra Series Inspiration
This story is tentatively titled KNIGHT OF FIRE and I've been writing it for...well, a long time. Pretty much since TO THE OTHER SIDE, Book 1 in the Terra series, was released. Writing life and personal life has caused for some delays with it, but it's getting closer to being put in my editor's hands!
Sadly, I don't have links or artist/photographer credits for these images, but if anyone does know the artists and photographers, I'll absolutely post their information. Some of you may remember my post on Bryson and Garrett where I showed these two pics of how I envision them:

Bryson

Ranger, Garrett's hound.

Ghost, Lark's cat.

Kit, Zain's fox.

Make this little guy white and you'll have Wynn :-)
With this image, I about died when I saw it after TO THE OTHER SIDE was released. It looks so much like how I envision Torran! The dragon here doesn't look anything like Torran's little dragon companion, Rose. She has scales of ruby red, a white underbelly, and rainbow feathered wings.

Torran

Karrick, Though, the eyes would need to be green.
If you've read TO THE OTHER SIDE, you know I describe Lark as having hair so black, it has a bluish sheen in the light. While in this image, the young man's hair is all blue and his lip is pierced, something that Lark doesn't have, for some reason, this image makes me think of him. Maybe it's the spirit of the image more than being a physical fit. Though, he's certainly beautiful enough to be Lark.
![]() |
Zain...an image very similar just may be on the cover for Terra, Book 3 ;-)

Aleric. He has that noble, but haunted quality I imagine for him.
And there you go! A few visuals to go along with the Terra series from my personal Inspiration File :-) Hope you've all enjoyed them. And now that I've shared these, I'm ready to head back to Terra and keep working on getting Book 2 ready for everyone to read!

Flattered and Honored
Hello, everyone! I just wanted to share a quick bit of fun news with you guys that I'm very flattered and honored about. On the review site, Mrs. Condit and Friends Read Books, I've been nominated for Author of the Month for July, along with my fantasy novel, TO THE OTHER SIDE, which received a wonderful 5 Sweet Pea review. You can see the review HERE.
It's always great to see recognition like this, especially for a book I wrote that was outside what's considered my norm, but that I'm so very proud of. I give my thanks to the reviewer, Lucky, and Mrs. Condit for the honor and the lovely review.
Voting for your favorite author and book for July begins tomorrow, August 2nd, and there are some absolutely amazing books and authors that are nominated, so do be sure to visit and vote for your favorites! And even if you don't have a favorite title listed among the awesome books there, if you have a minute, still check it out because you might discover a new favorite in the mix!

News and Reviews
Hello, everyone! It's time for a long overdue update! I do apologize for not posting more regularly. The good news of that is I've been spending all my free time throwing myself into writing. This year is turning out to be my biggest release year yet, as far as quantity goes. I started out the year with Adapting Instincts, then came To The Other Side, next up will be A Little Bit Country, and after that will be Refined Instincts, Book 5 in the Instincts series.
Yep. That's right. I've finished revising Refined Instincts and it's now ready to be sent off to my amazing editor at MLR Press! Woo hoo! Though, I probably shouldn't celebrate too much, because I still have to write the blurb and synopsis, but hey, the story is finished so that's a good enough reason to celebrate in my book ;-)
With the vampires ready to go again, now it's time for me to think about what project I'll start writing next, and I'm feeling the guys from the Terra series coming in strong, so I'll most likely be starting Book 2 with them.
And speaking of the Terra series, To The Other Side has gotten some really great reviews since it released! For those who are interested, here's some you can check out with links to the reviews.
4.75 stars out of 5 at Joyfully Jay. Thank you, Jay!
The cover for To The Other Side was also selected as one of the Favorite Covers for June at Joyfully Jay! Yay! And more thanks to Jay for that honor, and congratulations to the cover artist, Jared Rackler!
4.5 Nymphs out of 5 at Literary Nymphs. Thank you, Chocolate Minx!
4.5 hearts out of 5 at MM Good Book Reviews. Thank you, Pixie!
The Armchair Reader also gave it a "Really Liked It". Thank you, Cole!
4 stars out of 5 at Bea's Hive Romance Book Reviews. Thank you, Bea!
I couldn't be more thrilled with these reviews, and I give my thanks to each reviewer for taking the time to read the story and express their thoughts in these insightful reviews. All your work is very much appreciated!
Since I'll be going back to the other side for my next writing project, I'm hoping the writing will go fast and smooth, and maybe, just maybe, have Book 2 ready to release at the end of this year. But I'm not going to force the story and let it unfold at it's own pace like I always do. I'm also hoping to start a novella soon with Brandon and Shunichi from the Conquest series.
As for a tentative release schedule of my upcoming works, my editor and I are continuing to work toward an August release for A Little Bit Country. We're still in edits with it, so it's possible it might get pushed back to a September release, but we're doing all we can to have it out as soon as possible. I should have some cover art and the blurb for it to share soon!
After A Little Bit Country, it'll be the vampires coming back in Refined Instincts. In our chats, my editor and I are thinking a possible October release for it.
And there it all is! What I've been up to and what's been going on in my little writing world. Hope all sounds good to everyone!

New Release: TO THE OTHER SIDE
All right, ladies and gentlemen! Here we go again! My newest book and my first gay fantasy story is available now at MLR Press! Woo hoo! You can view it HERE.
It's available in all ebook formats; pdf, epub, mobi/prc. It'll also soon be available at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, AllRomance eBooks, and more! The print version will be coming in a few weeks.
It feels like it's been a really long journey with this story, but a good one, as well. I've always loved the fantasy genre, so it was great for me to work on a story with fantasy elements and combine it with my love for writing gay erotic romance.
I hope very much all who give this new venture by me a read, will enjoy the story!

Dragons, unicorns, and a witch with enchanting brown eyes, Garrett tries to make sense of a world so different from anything he’s ever known. But his mind and heart are open, and he finds himself drawn more to Bryson with each day they spend together. When Bryson and the gate that links the two worlds fall under threat, Garrett is willing to do all he can to protect them, even if it means facing down dark magic.

Sneak Peek Excerpt: TO THE OTHER SIDE
Hey, ladies and gentlemen! I've been working hard the past week on the last round of edits for my upcoming release, TO THE OTHER SIDE, and I'm happy to say, things are looking good! I'm working on the galley, my last chance to make any changes to the book before it releases. Once I'm finished and send it back to my editor, that's it. The book will be completely out of my hands and ready to go into yours!
With its release date of May 31st fast approaching, I thought I'd share a little sneak peek excerpt from it. If you're a member of The Sweet Spot, you might've already seen this when I shared it last Saturday for Reader Appreciation Day, but I wanted to give everyone a chance to see it, so here it is!
And just a reminder, Hop Against Homophobia and Transphobia is still going on, and you can still enter to win one of my books, winner's choice of title, in ebook. All you have to do is leave a comment on the blog hop post, a couple of posts below this one. Also, if the winner would like TO THE OTHER SIDE, even though it won't be released when the hop ends, if the winner can wait a few days until it releases, I'm good with offering it as a prize.
I hope everyone who's been looking forward to this book will enjoy it! Only a few more days and it'll be live at MLR Press!

Evergard is a finder of secrets. As a biologist and environmentalist, it’s his
job to go into wild lands and uncover their mysteries in order to save them. In
the Pacific Northwest, he races against logging lobbyists to save a section of
temperate rainforest, but the forest seems reluctant to give up her secrets.
Until a fateful meeting with a rare spirit bear opens the door to wonders
beyond anything he’s ever imagine, the greatest of those being the beautiful
man who comes to his rescue.
As
a witch and Gatekeeper, Bryson Summers is used to living a solitary life. He
lives between two worlds, Earth and Terra, feeling not fully part of either,
and dreams of meeting someone who understands him. From the moment he sees
Garrett, he believes – and hopes – he’s looking upon a twin soul.
Dragons,
unicorns, and a witch with enchanting brown eyes, Garrett tries to make sense
of a world so different from anything he’s ever known. But his mind and heart
are open, and he finds himself drawn more to Bryson with each day they spend
together. When Bryson and the gate that links the two worlds fall under threat,
Garrett is willing to do all he can to protect them, even if it means facing
down dark magic.
Excerpt:
Garrett
struggled through the black fog filling his mind. He could see the gray edges
of it, knowing he was starting to come out of the dark labyrinth he’d been
trapped in. He forced his eyes to open, and even though he only managed to part
his lids to slits, the white light beyond stung and forced him to close them again.
He
shifted on the bed, the warmth and softness of it and the blankets offering
comfort to his aches, which grew in strength the more aware he became.
Garrett
paused in his thoughts. Bed? Blankets? Where was he? A hospital? The last thing
he remembered was the sunlight shining through the leaves, the chill of the
stream water seeping through his clothes. Had he been found and rescued?
As
his senses sharpened, he picked up someone talking, the voice male and gruff.
“He’s
stable enough to be moved. Get him out of here.”
Another
voice answered, also male, but younger, the tone deep and smooth, soothing and
quiet. “We won’t know how stable he is until he wakes up.”
Accusation
entered into the first voice. “By then it’ll be too late! He’ll find out!”
“Well,
he wouldn’t be the first person who had. Obviously.”
Garrett
lay unmoving, not that he was entirely sure how well he could move. He didn’t know where he was, but from the conversation,
it sure as hell wasn’t a hospital. What’d happened to him? Had he been
discovered by some backwoods people living in anonymity, and now his presence
threatened that? Whatever it was, it sounded like he was in a bad situation and
he needed to get himself out of it.
He
didn’t know what to do. Should he alert them he was awake, or play dead until
he could find out more about where he was and who these people were?
A
soft thump on the bed to his right snapped him from his thoughts. He froze,
holding his breath, straining his ears. His pillow dipped with something
pressing down on it. He risked rolling his head slightly toward it, opening his
eyes.
He
shouted, flinging himself back toward the far side of the bed, nearly toppling
over the edge. The cause of his surprise also let out a startled scream,
reptilian hands flung upward as it tumbled backward off the bed.
Garrett
sat upright, his breathing heavy. Footsteps pounded closer. Garrett looked
toward the sound as the source crested the top of a flight of stairs. He met
eyes of such dark brown, they appeared black, but even with the surprise and
concern in the dark eyes, they were soft, gentle.
The
man’s gaze darted from him to the floor on the right side of the bed. He rushed
forward. “Wynny!”
The
man slid down to his knees, disappearing on the other side of the bed.
Cautiously, Garrett inched toward the edge, peering down at the man and the…lizard? No. Wait. The dragon.
No
larger than a cat, the dragon pushed off its side to sit up, and was scooped
into the man’s arms. Its scales were white, but as the light hit them, an
iridescent sheen glistened over them. Two ivory-colored horns spiraled out from
the back of the dragon’s refined, small head, which was held up on a long,
slender neck. Triangular spikes, the same ivory color as the horns, ran down
the back of its neck, back, and tail. The tip of its tail ended in a spear-like
point.
The
dragon raised one front leg, rubbing its head with its clawed hand.
“Are
you okay?” the man asked it.
The
dragon nodded.
“Flex
your wings. Let me make sure.”
Neatly
folded at his sides, the dragon extended its wings.
Each
wing was more than twice as long as the dragon’s body. Delicate bones ran
through them, held together by leathery white skin that had a slight pinkish
tint as the light shone through it. Garrett looked to the man at hearing his
sigh of relief.
“They
look fine. Do you hurt anywhere else? Other than bumping your head?”
The
dragon shook his head.
Garrett
stared at the duo, amazed and confused by the interaction. The dragon—and that
was a word that had passed through his mind way too much lately—seemed to
understand everything the man said. And as for the man, he found himself
feeling more enchanted by him, than by seeing another dragon.
Sweeping,
sharp cheekbones accented the man’s Native American features. He looked young,
probably in his mid-twenties at most. His raven-black hair hung straight and
sleek past his shoulders. His left ear was pierced with a silver ring in the
cartilage, a white feather and a black feather dangling from it. The light tan
of his buckskin shirt and pants complimented his deep bronze skin tone. But it
was the man’s eyes—the bottomless, dark eyes—with a lovely almond shape, that
had his attention.
The
man brushed a hand down the dragon’s back to the side of the spikes. “It looks
like you’re going to be okay.” He looked up to Garrett, a smile curving his
lips. “And it looks like our guest is going to be okay, too.” He glanced to the
dragon. “The two of you startled each other, huh?”
The
dragon nodded, tipping his head back to Garrett.
Garrett
swore the dragon was smiling at him, and he got his first good look at the
dragon’s eyes, a green radiant enough to shame precious emeralds, with pupils
slit like a cat’s.
“How
do you feel?”
The
question asked by that quiet, calming voice pulled Garrett back to the moment.
He looked to the man. “I’m…not sure. Physically, I feel like I got hit by a
truck. Or, fell down a ravine, which I guess I did. I’m kind of lost for words
on other things.”
The
man laughed, deep and soft. Rising, he tucked the dragon in his arms. “I can
understand that. You’ve just had a pretty big shock. And from my understanding,
it wasn’t the first in the past couple days. But you’re safe here, so that’s
one less thing for you to worry about.” He sat on the edge of the bed and
offered his hand. “I already know your name, Garrett Evergard. It was on your
driver’s license. But I should give you mine now that you’re awake. I’m Bryson
Summers.”
Garrett
slowly extended his hand, watching as Bryson’s long, slender fingers wrapped
around it in a strong, but gentle hold.
“You
look confused,” Bryson said.
A
single, humorless laugh left Garrett. His voice was rough with disuse as he
spoke. “That’s an understatement.”

Release Date Update: To The Other Side
Hello guys and girls! I have some great news for everyone who has been looking forward to the release of TO THE OTHER SIDE, my first venture into m/m fantasy. The release date for it has been bumped up. It will now be releasing on May 31st at MLR Press! Woo hoo! After it initially drops on MLR, it'll become available very soon on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, AllRomance eBooks, and more, along with being available in print a few weeks after the ebook releases.
It was hard enough for me to believe the book was going to come out so soon in June, now I'm in total disbelief. I think the new release jitters are going to kick in a little early for this one! I'm immensely proud of the story, but with anything, when trying something new there's always a certain amount of nerves that go with it. I'll be hoping very much that those who read this new light fantasy and gay romance story from me, will enjoy it!

A Few Bits of News
Hey there, everyone! I've been a busy little author lately, so I've got some news to update everyone on.

First, the sweet and talented, Jaime Samms, was kind enough to have me over to her blog, where I talk about rock stars, the Conquest series, and rockers going country. It's a fun blog post, and I hope everyone who stops by enjoys reading it and hearing what I'm up to with my next musician themed story. If you'd like to head on over, just click HERE.

Second, we have a release date for TO THE OTHER SIDE. Woo hoo! Keep an eye for it to drop at MLR Press on June 14th! Which is actually a very cool date, because some of you may recall that's the birthday of another sexy guy from a different series, Evan Arden from Conquest! It's going to be awesome for me to have a book come out on his birthday :-D It's also hard for me to believe it's that close.
As I've said before, this is my first foray into writing a gay fantasy novel, complete with all the erotic romance elements you're used to seeing from me. I'm super excited and freaking out all at once! But I'm also very proud of the story. It's also going to be the first in the "Terra series", with at least three more stories planned. I'm in edits on it now, and so far, they've been going really well!
Third in my news, I'm going to be taking part in the Hop Against Homophobia and Transphobia. This is a very special blog hop honoring International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia on May 17th. It's to help raise awareness and acceptance for all members of the LGBTQ community, and I'm happy to be taking part. The hop will run from May 17th to 27th, with tons of authors, publishers, cover artists, and reviewers taking part. And it's not only featuring authors of M/M, but also authors of F/F, Trans, and Bisexual works. For the hop, I'll be donating winner's choice of a title from my backlist, and I'll have my post up on May 17th for all who'd like to enter in the giveaway. With the number of folks already signed up to participate, it's going to be one great hop! Be sure to check out everyone taking part!
And the final piece of news I've got regards A LITTLE BIT COUNTRY: THE NOVEL. It's finished and is in my editor's hands. Right now, we're thinking of August for a release month. Woo hoo!
And, that's it! That's what's been going on in my little writing world. Lots of things I'm very excited about, and I hope some of it is exciting for you guys, too!

Cover art and blurb reveal: TO THE OTHER SIDE
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm beyond ecstatic to share with you all the gorgeous new cover for my upcoming release, TO THE OTHER SIDE. I can't even tell you all how much I love this cover. It was made by the very sweet and talented, Jared Rackler. When I saw it, I was absolutely floored. I think he did a fantastic job, and he's one talented man! I thank him very much for all the hard work he put into it!
I've just gotten edits back on this story last week, so that's my writing focus at the moment. I'm going to read over the full manuscript while doing the edits, then back to my lovely editor it will go. As of right now, we're still keeping our fingers crossed for a June release on it at MLR Press, but no solid date yet. I'm moving a little slow on edits, so I'm to blame if it comes out later than projected. I'll own up to that now :-) But I'm still going to work my hardest and do my best to get this story out to all of you as soon as I can! I'm super excited about it, and can't wait to share it!
And now, here's the wonderful cover by Jared, and the blurb!

BLURB:
Garrett Evergard is a finder
of secrets. As a biologist and environmentalist, it’s his job to go into wild
lands and uncover their mysteries in order to save them. In the Pacific
Northwest, he races against logging lobbyists to save a section of temperate
rainforest, but the forest seems reluctant to give up her secrets. Until a
fateful meeting with a rare spirit bear opens the door to wonders beyond
anything he’s ever imagine, the greatest of those being the beautiful man who
comes to his rescue.
As a witch and Gatekeeper,
Bryson Summers is used to living a solitary life. He lives between two worlds,
Earth and Terra, feeling not fully part of either, and dreams of meeting
someone who understands him. From the moment he sees Garrett, he believes – and
hopes – he’s looking upon a twin soul.

An update on TO THE OTHER SIDE
Hello, everyone! Wow, have things been busy for me lately! But it's all been a good kind of busy, so you won't hear any complaints from me. If anything, I've got nothing but good news to share!
You guys may recall me mentioning from time to time, the M/M fantasy novel I was working on and turned over to MLR Press, TO THE OTHER SIDE. Well, it looks like it's found a home there. Hooray! Edits are going to start soon on it, and from what my editor said, we're looking at around June of this year for a possible release month. Don't have a specific day yet, but when I do, I'll be sure to post it!
I know a lot of folks don't know what to expect from this novel, because it's a different genre than my contemporaries with the Conquest series, my paranormals with the Instincts series, and even my historical with OF HONOR AND LOVE. So because it's a bit different, I thought I'd talk a little bit about it, and even share some inspiration.
A dear friend on Facebook mentioned one day that I should write a story with a witch. Almost as soon as she said that, a figure stepped forward in my head and I knew exactly who he was; he was my witch. I also knew, I would write his story. Along with him came another figure, his partner, and together, their story started unfolding in my mind. When I got the chance to start working on TO THE OTHER SIDE, it actually went very quickly. Well, for me since it usually takes me months to finish a first draft. But both characters were so strong, and along with them, they brought a host of other characters, humans and otherwise, and they carried me along through their tale.
By the time I reached The End, I had a story that extended across two worlds, our own modern world and a second world called Terra (a more traditional, medieval based fantasy world), that was a love story with an interracial couple since my witch, Bryson, is also Native American, and Garrett, his love interest, is Caucasian, and along with fantasy elements, contains an underlying environmental theme. All of these elements are interwoven in the story, but throughout it all, the love story between Bryson and Garrett remains at the heart.
Like I often do, I went searching for images of guys who could fit for what I imagined Bryson and Garrett to look like. Rarely do I find any real life images who look like my characters, but I actually scored pretty well for Bryson and Garrett. Sadly, these models won't be on the cover, since these aren't stock images. I don't even know who they are, but in these particular shots of these men, they look a lot like how I envision Bryson and Garrett appearing in the story.
Not bad, huh ;-) I think they're a fun couple in the story, and I hope everyone who decides to give my first foray into writing gay fantasy, will like them, too. I've loved the fantasy genre ever since I was a little girl, so now having my first fantasy themed story getting published is very exciting for me. And I can say that this story is the first of what will probably be three books, because there's at least two supporting characters who I'd really love to write a story on.
And so, there you go! A little more info on TO THE OTHER SIDE! Hope it's all sounding good so far!
